04 Why we use your data, and our legal basis
Under the GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your data. We rely on the following:
- To respond to enquiries and provide quotes, basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
- To fulfil your order, build or repair, and arrange collection, basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To process payments and keep accounting records, basis: performance of our contract and our legal obligations (for example tax and company-law record-keeping).
- To handle warranty claims and after-sales support, basis: performance of our contract and our legitimate interests in standing behind our work.
- To understand and improve our website, basis: your consent (for analytics cookies) and/or our legitimate interests.

05 Payments
The reservation deposit is paid by card via Revolut. When you pay:
- Your card details are processed directly by Revolut, we never receive or store your full card number.
- We receive confirmation of payment and retain records of the transaction (such as amount, date and reference) for accounting and warranty purposes.
Revolut acts as an independent controller of the payment data it processes. See Revolut's own privacy notice for details of how they handle your information.
06 Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary:
- Payment provider (Revolut), to process card payments.
- Component suppliers / couriers, only where needed to fulfil or deliver your order (for example a delivery address).
- Service providers we rely on to run the business (for example email and analytics providers such as Google).
- Professional advisers or authorities, where required by law, or to establish or defend legal claims.
Some of these providers (for example Google) may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
07 Cookies and analytics
Our website uses analytics (such as Google Analytics) to measure how the site is used so we can improve it. These tools may set cookies or use similar technologies that collect information like pages visited, approximate location, and device or browser type.
Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent. You can accept or decline them, and you can change your browser settings at any time to block or delete cookies. Declining analytics cookies will not stop you using the site.
08 How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to an order, kept for a reasonable period and then deleted.
- Order, build and warranty records, kept for the duration of our relationship and for as long as needed to honour warranty and statutory obligations (statutory consumer claims can arise for up to six years).
- Accounting and tax records, kept for the period required by Irish tax and company law (generally six years).
When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

To exercise any of these, email us at contact@buildt.ie. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Irish supervisory authority, the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie). We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
