These Terms & Conditions govern your use of this website and the sale of our products and
services. By placing an order, paying a deposit, or using this website, you agree to be bound
by them. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish law,
including the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and the European Union (Consumer Information,
Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013.
01 Who we are
In these Terms, "we", "us", "our" and "BUILDT" refer to BuildT Computers Ltd, a company registered in Ireland (company number 762228).
- Trading address: Unit 8A, Charthouse Business Centre, 157 Richmond Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 3, D03 E3W9, Ireland
- Email: contact@buildt.ie
- Phone: +353 89 485 6890
"You" and "your" refer to the person placing an order with us or using this website.
02 Our products and how we work
BUILDT designs, builds, upgrades, repairs and diagnoses custom PCs. We operate a by-arrangement workshop, we are not a walk-in retail shop. Collections, drop-offs and workshop visits are arranged by message or email; we do not run an online booking system.
- Signature Builds, curated, build-to-order specifications we assemble to the configuration you agree with us.
- Custom configurations, systems built to a specification you choose using our configurator or by agreeing it with us.
- Prebuilt builds, one-off, ready-built systems we have configured and priced as individual deals.
- Upgrades, repairs & diagnostics, services carried out on your existing or supplied hardware.
Important: Signature Builds and custom configurations are made to your specification. As set out in Section 8, goods made to your specification are exempt from the 14-day cooling-off right. Your statutory rights for faulty goods (Section 12) are unaffected.
We take care to display products, specifications and prices accurately. Component appearance and minor specification details may vary with stock and supplier availability. Where a specific component is unavailable, we will contact you to agree a comparable alternative before proceeding.
03 Placing an order and order acceptance
When you place an order or request a build, you are making an offer to purchase. We will acknowledge your enquiry, but this acknowledgement is not acceptance.
A binding contract is formed only when we confirm acceptance of your order, typically once we have agreed the final specification, received your deposit, and confirmed the build in writing by email.
We may decline or cancel an order where:
- the product or component is unavailable or out of stock;
- a pricing or specification error has been identified;
- we are unable to verify your details or obtain payment;
- a supply or procurement failure occurs; or
- we reasonably suspect the order is fraudulent or unlawful.
If we decline or cancel an order before the build has begun, any deposit or other payment you have made will be refunded in full.
04 Pricing
- All prices are quoted in euro (€). BuildT Computers Ltd is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to our prices.
- Custom builds start from €1,840. Final pricing depends on the agreed specification.
- If a genuine pricing error is identified after you order, we will contact you to reconfirm at the correct price or cancel and refund any payment made.
- The price applicable to your order is the one confirmed in writing at the time we accept it.
05 Payment
- Reservation deposit: To place an order for a Prebuilt PC or a Signature Build you pay a fixed €200 deposit by debit or credit card, processed by our payment provider, Revolut. The deposit reserves that exact unit or build and is credited in full toward its price, so it is not an additional charge. We do not currently take the full price of an order online.
- The balance: The remaining balance is due on collection at our workshop, or is arranged with you before we ship. We will confirm the amount and how to pay it in writing.
- Deposit refunds: The €200 deposit is non-refundable for a Prebuilt PC, and non-refundable for a Signature Build once production has begun. Section 9 sets this out in full.
- Custom configurations: A fully custom configuration is not ordered or paid for online. You send it to us as an enquiry and we confirm the specification, stock and price in writing before any deposit is taken.
- Card details: Your card details are entered directly with Revolut. We do not receive or store your full card number or security details.
- Title & risk: Ownership passes to you only once we receive payment in full (deposit and balance). Risk passes to you on collection (or on delivery, where applicable).
06 Build times and lead times
We will give you an estimated build or completion time when we accept your order. Estimates are given in good faith but are not guaranteed, as they depend on component availability and supplier lead times. We will keep you informed of any material delay and, where a delay is significant, work with you to agree a revised timeline or, where appropriate, a cancellation and refund in line with your statutory rights.
07 Collection and delivery
Collection (default)
Completed systems are collected from our workshop by arrangement. We will contact you when your system is ready to arrange a time.
- Your order must be paid in full before collection.
- For security, we may ask for photographic ID and/or proof of your order.
- If someone collects on your behalf, please let us know in advance; we may ask them for ID and proof of order.
Holding period
We will hold a completed, paid-for system ready for collection for 14 days from the date we notify you it is ready. If you cannot collect within this period, please contact us to arrange an alternative.
Delivery (if offered)
Where we agree to deliver, terms and charges are confirmed at the time of order. Risk passes to you on delivery to the address you provide. You are responsible for ensuring delivery details are accurate.
08 Your right to cancel (cooling-off period)
If you are a consumer and buy from us as a distance contract (for example a ready-built Prebuilt PC ordered through our website without inspecting it in person), you generally have the right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason, under the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013.
- The 14-day period runs from the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods.
- To cancel, tell us clearly within the period by email to contact@buildt.ie, quoting your order reference.
- You must return the goods without undue delay and within 14 days of telling us. You are responsible for the cost and safe return, and for taking reasonable care of the goods.
- We refund the price (and standard delivery cost, if any) within 14 days of receiving the goods back, using your original payment method.
- Handling beyond inspection reduces your refund: you're entitled to handle and check the system the way you would in a shop, to confirm it's what you ordered, powers on, and matches its description, nothing more. Gaming, benchmarking, installing software, extended everyday use, or any use beyond that necessary inspection counts as handling that diminishes the value of what is, at that point, a used PC rather than a new one. We will deduct that loss in value from your refund, and for a system that has genuinely been used this can be substantial, potentially up to the full price if it can no longer reasonably be resold as new. We will also deduct our reasonable direct costs of restoring the system to a resalable condition (for example a full wipe and reinstall).
When the cooling-off right does not apply
- goods made to your specification or clearly personalised, this includes our Signature Builds and custom configurations;
- services fully performed with your prior express consent (for example a completed repair, upgrade or build service);
- sealed software or consumable items unsealed or activated after delivery.
Where you buy in person at our workshop, the distance/off-premises cooling-off right does not apply, but your statutory rights for faulty goods (Section 12) always apply.
09 Deposit and cancellation by you
The €200 deposit reserves your unit or build and is credited in full toward its price. If you cancel your order, the following applies.
- Prebuilt PCs: reserving a ready-built machine takes it off sale to anyone else. The €200 deposit is therefore non-refundable if you choose not to proceed. Any balance you have already paid, over and above the deposit, is refunded in full.
- Signature Builds (built to order): if you cancel before production has begun (that is, before we have ordered components specifically for your build or started assembly), the €200 deposit is refunded in full. In practice, we begin sourcing components for your exact build promptly after your deposit, so this window is short. Once production has begun, the deposit is non-refundable.
- Signature Builds, after production has begun: any amount you have paid beyond the €200 deposit is refundable only to the extent it exceeds the reasonable costs we have already incurred (for example components ordered specifically for you and labour committed). We will not retain more than our actual reasonable losses.
This clause does not affect your statutory rights, including your right to cancel a distance contract for non-custom goods under Section 8.
10 Performance testing
Every system we build is performance verified before handover. This includes thermal testing and benchmark testing to confirm the system runs stably and performs as expected for its configuration. We do not make extended "burn-in" guarantees, and benchmark figures are indicative and depend on software, drivers, settings and operating conditions.
11 Warranty
In addition to your statutory rights (Section 12), and without affecting them, we provide the following commercial warranty:
- BUILDT 1-year labour warranty: for 12 months from the date of collection, we carry out all diagnostic and repair labour on your system free of charge. We will do everything we physically can to resolve any issue with a system we have built.
- Component (parts) warranties: individual components (CPU, GPU, motherboard, RAM, storage, PSU, etc.) are covered by their respective manufacturer warranties, which vary by component and are subject to the manufacturer's own terms. Where a covered part is found faulty, we will manage the manufacturer claim on your behalf and fit the replacement at no labour charge during your 12-month labour warranty period.
This commercial warranty is an additional benefit on top of your legal rights and does not replace or limit them. Where goods are faulty or not in conformity with the contract, we (not the manufacturer) remain responsible to you under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 for up to six years, and any remedy you are legally entitled to is provided free of charge, see Section 12.
Our commercial warranty does not cover
- accidental damage, liquid damage, misuse, neglect, or use outside the manufacturer's specifications;
- damage from unauthorised modification, repair or opening of the system by you or a third party, or from overclocking beyond the configuration we supplied;
- software issues, viruses, data loss, or problems caused by user-installed software or operating-system changes;
- normal wear and tear or consumable items;
- components or parts you supplied yourself (see Section 13).
Data: you are responsible for backing up your own data. We are not liable for loss of data; please ensure you have backups before any repair, upgrade or service.
12 Faulty goods and your statutory rights
Where you buy as a consumer, the goods we supply must be in conformity with the contract, matching their description, fit for purpose, of satisfactory quality, and reasonably durable. If they are not, you are entitled to the following remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2022:
- Within 30 days of receiving the goods, if a fault arises you may use your short-term right to terminate for a full refund, or instead choose a repair or replacement. The choice is yours.
- After 30 days, you may generally choose between a repair or a replacement, where possible and not disproportionately costly.
- If a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, impossible, or causes significant inconvenience, or the fault is sufficiently serious, you may be entitled to a price reduction or to terminate for a refund.
- Any refund is made using your original payment method, with no fee.
You can seek a remedy for faulty goods for up to six years from the date you received them. The business that sold you the goods (us) is responsible for resolving conformity issues, you do not need to contact the manufacturer.
Reporting a fault
Please contact us promptly at contact@buildt.ie, quoting your order reference with a description and, where helpful, photographs. We may suggest steps to resolve the issue remotely, or ask you to return the system for inspection, and will arrange the appropriate remedy within the timeframes required by law. Please report any damage or shortage evident on collection or delivery as soon as reasonably possible.
13 Compatibility, fitness for purpose and customer-supplied parts
Where you specify a particular configuration or intended use, please tell us clearly so we can advise on suitability. We use reasonable skill and care, but cannot guarantee a system will meet a particular subjective expectation (for example a specific frame rate in a specific title) unless expressly agreed in writing.
If you supply your own components for us to use, we are not responsible for their condition, compatibility or performance, and our warranty does not extend to them or to faults caused by them.
14 Software and operating systems
Where an operating system or other software is supplied, you are responsible for complying with the relevant licence terms. Software that has been unsealed, activated or downloaded is not returnable except where it is faulty. We are not responsible for third-party software, drivers, updates or services.
15 Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to the above, we are not liable for:
- loss of profit, business or data, or any indirect or consequential loss;
- loss or damage not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made; or
- loss or damage from your failure to follow our instructions, to back up your data, or to use the goods in accordance with their specifications.
Our total liability for any order will not exceed the price paid for that order, except where the law requires otherwise.
16 Data protection and privacy
We process your personal data in accordance with the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, to process your order, provide our services and communicate with you. For full details, see our Privacy Policy. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
17 Complaints and dispute resolution
We aim to resolve any issue quickly and fairly. If you have a complaint, please contact us at contact@buildt.ie and we will do our best to put things right. If we cannot resolve the matter, you may:
- contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) for information on your rights (ccpc.ie);
- use the Small Claims Procedure through the District Court for qualifying consumer claims up to €2,000 (filing fee €25); or
- if you are resident in another EU/EEA country, contact the European Consumer Centre (ECC) Ireland for cross-border disputes.
18 Events outside our control
We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations where this is caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including supply shortages, courier delays, fire, flood, industrial action, or other events of force majeure. Where such an event occurs, we will contact you and, where appropriate, agree a revised timeline or a cancellation and refund.
19 Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version applicable to your order is the one in effect when we accept your order. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
20 Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any contract formed under them are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts. This does not affect any mandatory consumer protections available to you under the law of your country of residence.
